Members of the Isi family at Minikpiti Rumuolumeni have commended the Executive Governor of the State Barrister Nyesom Ezenwo Wike for for the appointment of Professor Ozo-Mekuri Ndimele as the substantive Vice-Chancellor for Ignatius Ajuru University of Education.
They gave the commendation when they paid a familiarization visit to the Vice-Chancellor.
Leader of the delegation and Head of the Isi family, Chief ThankGod Mark while congratulating the new Vice-Chancellor, remarked that the institution over the years had enjoyed a harmonious relationship with Members of the family and lauded Staff for training future leaders for the State and the Country.
He emphasized that the peaceful coexistence already maintained would be sustained but appealed for admission, scholarship, employment, promotion, contract, supplies and land compensation to be given to their people for them to have a sense of belonging.
Chief ThankGod Mark expressed appreciation to the Vice-Chancellor for the audience granted to them and prayed God to give him wisdom and guidance to enable him live up to expectations.
Also speaking, Mr. Noble Nwenenda Isi stated that they were willing and ready to discuss and open to ways of resolving the land matter pending in court amicably.
He called for creation of an avenue for mutual understanding to help put to rest the issue of complain of marginalization by members of the family.
Responding, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Ozo-Mekuri Ndimele hinted that he had planned to visit them before they came.
He opined that it would be unfair for the institution to embark on research and impact knowledge to students without the host community benefitting from such prosperity.
He promised to address any case of promotion denial brought to him and to give concessions to them during admissions period as well as convert to the academic cadre those with doctorate degrees.
On issues bothering on scholarships, employment, casual staff, contracts, supplies and land compensation, the Vice-Chancellor reminded the host community that the State Government was yet to lift embargo on employment and added that contracts and supplies were not possible for now due to lean resources.
He assured that scholarships would be given once the financial state of the institution improved and informed them that no casual staff was laid off as alleged adding that verification exercise was only carried out to identify genuine work force.
Professor Ndimele said that he would consult with the legal unit to find out the agreement that was reached in the land dispute and pleaded for calm, peace and assistance with policing the university facilities and environment.
He also called for partnership and enjoined them to bring their expertise in his developmental plans for the growth of the university and for shared benefits.
In his vote of thanks, Chief Wanele Wegwu Isi expressed gratitude to the Vice-Chancellor for the kind gesture. He promised that they would support the institution and help with the security challenges currently being experienced and prayed God to give Professor Ndimele the strength to actualize his dreams for the young university.
