NEKEDE POLY Admits 5,800 Students For 2016/17 Academic Session

The Federal Polytechnic Nekede was behive of activity on Thursday 23, February as the school matriculate about five thousand eight hundred students.

The Rector of the institution Dr. (Mrs) C.U Njoku went memory lane on the history of the institution which started with 250 students and is growing from strength to strength. She also reaffirmed the motto of the school which is knowledge and skill for service while the vision is to be a pacesetter in demand-driven technology and innovations and its mission is “To nurture and sustain the culture of best practices in teaching/learning methods, research demonstration, skills and technology innovations in order to produce job creators for globe. As human beings we have the mental as well as physical forms, the mind which are employ in constructive reasoning and the body which we use for psychomotor achievements.

The Rector emphasized on intellectual excellence which is a glorious and everlasting possession. Dr. (Mrs) Njoku addressing the matriculants adviced them to plan their live and follow it with prompt action. Quoting from 1st Corinthians, chapter 6 vs 9-12, which says all things are allowed for me but not all things are good but, i will not let anything be my master. She informed the student that the power to acquire necessary skills, knowledge and attitude depend on them, they should put God first in all their endeavour, wealth and beauty can only give fleeting and perishable fame, but intellectual excellence is a glorious and everlasting possession.

The Rector Dr. (Mrs) C. U Njoku advice the students to make use of the well equipped medical facility which have experienced doctors whenever the need arise. As the management have put in place necessary logistics for learning and recreation life there is need to abide by the following 

Avoid indecent dressing 

Zero tolerance to cultism, rape, robbery, intimidation, kidnapping, sorting, Examination malpractice, posting of inciting text messages etc. 

Avoid use of phone as an educational material instead of using it for pornography, charting etc. 

Avoid actions that will cause breach of peace in the campus. 

The Rector emphasized seriously on the right of the students to seek redress through appropriate channel and inform the management if there is any in fragment on their right which include, sorting, sexual harassment, money for marks, buying of textbooks above n1000.00, intimidation by staff etc. 

Dr njoku adviced the parent to help the school reduce corruption and vices, pay school fees, monitor their children in school and encourage their children to make up skills in the school Entrepreneurship Directorate as the skill has the following 

  • Leather works 
  • Leather shoe 
  • Leather slippers 
  • Aestheticians/Beauticians 
  • Buffet 
  • Frames 
  • Table mat 
  • Furniture making 
  • Barbing & weaving 
  • Fabrication/ Welding etc.

Furthermore she thanked individuals, organizations private and public that have absorbed our students on IT. 
Hand of Fellowship The Rector extended hands of fellowship to girls and boys who delve in areas exclusively reserved for boys or girls like Engineering, OTM etc. To this the Rector offered 130 students scholarship in their various field of endeavour. Along the line students took their matriculation oath and where presented to their various heads. Highlight of the occasion include a grand display by the School choir, Polynek band, Man o war parade etc.
